A MESSAGE TO LOGGERS WHO WANT TO HELP OUT WITH KATRINA
CLEAN UP EFFORTS
From Rich Lewis, Forest Resources Association

For loggers who have expressed an interest in assisting associates and friends in the Gulf region with clean-up efforts in light of Katrina, coordinators at the national level, Danny Dructor (Executive VP, American Loggers Council) and Buck Vandersteen (Executive Director, Louisiana Forestry Association) have asked contractors to wait until they receive feedback/approval for the the plan and strategies they submitted to appropriate government agencies

Right now Danny and Buck advise, "What loggers need to realize is that there has been and perhaps will continue to be some security issues down here, not to mention fuel shortages. It is not advised at this time to simply load the wagons and come down without some type of organizational effort."

So, if you are interested in helping with the Katrina clean up efforts that will be needed later this month or next please call, or better yet send an email message to, Danny or Buck outlining in what way you'd like to help, what equipment you'd you can provide, etc. Please provide your full contact information (address, phone, fax and email) so Danny and Buck can get back to you.

Danny and Buck will save your offers of assistance and when and if you are needed they will re-contact you.
