AWARD-WINNING TRAINING SINCE 1995

Visit the Arkansas Forestry Association web site at www.arkforests.org and follow the link to play the "I Would if I Could" forest products game online. This is the same game that appears on the Arkansas Forests Forever CD-ROM.

Please also encourage your local library and community schools to visit this site; simply draft a letter based on the sample below and send copies to educational contacts in your community. This is a wonderful way to introduce to young people the vast array of forest products we use daily and the importance of Arkansas' forest products industry in meeting these consumer needs.

Dear Mr./Ms. xxxxxx:

I am writing you today to share with you a wonderful online educational tool that is of great value to children and people of all ages. The Arkansas Forestry Association (www.arkforests.org) is offering on its website an interactive game called, "I Would if I Could," which is designed to introduce participants to the vast array of forest products – common and not so common – we use daily. In fact, most people would be surprised to learn there are some 5,000 products made from wood or wood fibers.

I hope you will highlight this game in the classroom/library and will share this information with other staff and volunteers who provide instruction to children. It is fun, educational and easy to navigate. The content compliments many subject areas including social studies, science, literacy and English, and even math.

Forests and the products derived from sustainably-managed forestland are important to Arkansas both economically and ecologically. We hope you will help children gain a better understanding about an industry that has shaped and continues to shape so many Arkansas communities in the last century.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
