Log A Load For Kids
Arkansas's logging and forestry community raised $362,422 for Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) in 2006. Since 1993, this program has raised more than $3 million.
Fundraising events were held in Glenwood, Hermitage, Monticello, Pine Bluff, Prescott, Rison, Sheridan and Strong. The money raised at these events goes into the Log A Load For Kids Imaging Endowment at ACH, which supports the radiology and magnetic resonance imaging programs.
Arkansas is one of 28 states involved in the Log A Load For Kids program—a national sponsor of the Children's Miracle Network (CMN)—and raised more money than any other state in 2005. This grassroots effort started in South Carolina in 1988 when two loggers gave a contribution equal to the value of a load of logs to their children's hospital. This act of kindness has spread, and each year, logging and forestry groups raise millions of dollars nationwide for CMN hospitals.
"We are proud to support our worldclass children's hospital and help make a difference in the lives of children and their families," said Anna Swaim, Log A Load For Kids state coordinator. "Log A Load For Kids continues to be one of ACH's leading fundraising campaigns. "Log A Load is successful because the hard-working people in Arkansas's timber industry have an extraordinary commitment to children."
